I’m gathering party ideas for the 4th of July. It’s Meyer’s favorite holiday. It’s celebrating our country. It’s a time to be with family. It’s watermelon, hotdogs, and drippy popsicles. It’s lighting bugs blinking and cicadas signing. And maybe a few fireworks too…depending on where you live. This 4th of July Roundup is celebrating all those great things that make the 4th of July such a wonderful holiday.
Food and Wine Magazine has a great roundup of drinks for the 4th of July holiday. I know I’ll be mixing up a few of these for our guests.
Sur La Table’s Stars and Stripes collection has so many fun table setting pieces. I could swoop them all up. A buffet on our porch would look so nice with all those flags and stars.
Martha Stewart’s Americana dreams party ideas make me swoon. Bandanas are the perfect accent.
Oh Sweet Basil’s recipe for Fried Strawberry Shortcakes sounds amazing! Now if only I can figure out a gluten free version.
I’m really into ice cream right now. When Food and Wine posted the best 31 ice cream spots in the US, I had to disagree as one of my favorite was missing: Owowcow. But it did make me want to run out to get a freshly dipped cup.
Ribs seem like the perfect food for a 4th of July Cookout. Food52 has a guide for all you need to know about Pork Ribs.
For a grownup take on watermelon how about Ina Garten’s Arugula, Watermelon, and Feta Salad. I can imagine the sweet juicy watermelon contrasting with the bitter greens and salty cheese. Yum.
Don’t forget to decorate your house when you throw a 4th of July bash! I’d love several of these buntings to decorate the front of our house. I get a little flip in my stomach seeing houses decorated for the holiday.
