Celebrate Awareness Conference

Walt Disney World Celebrate Awareness Conference

In a few short weeks I’m off to Walt Disney World yet again.  Not only are we visiting family in Florida for Thanksgiving but we are also attending the Celebrate Awareness Food Allergy & Celiac Conference held at the Coronado Springs Resort.  I’m very excited to be attending this conference as not only is it another venue for Celiac awareness but it’ll take a broader look at food allergies in general.  As I’ve said before Walt Disney World is an amazing place if you have food allergies or Celiac Disease. I have had wonderful experiences dining at all levels of restaurants at Disney.  I whole heartedly recommend visiting the most magical place on earth if you have a child with a food allergy. Disney makes food allergies almost disappear.

Back to the conference: Celebrate Awareness is having it’s inaugural conference at the Coronado Springs Resort.  There’s an expo, and an impressive line up of speakers.  Although it’s not sponsored by Disney, the keynote speaker is Gary Jones the Culinary Dietary Specialist for Walt Disney World.  Also speaking is Matt Maslowski, who is the catering Sous Chef at the Contemporary Resort.  Other speakers include culinary professional Elizabeth Barbone, Joel Warady of Enjoy Life Foods (my favorite chocolate chips!), food allergy bloggers, and knowledgable health care workers.

Let’s talk about the Expo for a minute.  Who doesn’t love to meet vendors and try out new foods?  I love to taste all the delicious treats at an expo (and an allergy expo makes tasting things that much better and easier for a Celiac like me!) Enjoy Life, Schär, Sunbutter, and Gluten Free Harvest will all be there.

The organizers have also set up some great ‘Extra Magic’ events around the conference including a breakfast, an allergen free ice cream bar, and a dinner. On Sunday there’s even also a funday of bowling.

So why not make a date with the Mouse and attend the Celebrate Awareness Conference. Oh ya, afterwards why not take a day or two at Disney World.
