We’ve spent this first warm spring weekend enjoying the outdoors. Our porch is freshly power washed with the furniture back in place. On Friday night we had our first official dinner out on the porch-no blankets needed! I can’t tell you how excited that makes me. I’m not sure why but that porch is a place for true relaxation: good tunes, tasty beverages, and good friends. It also reminds me to unplug myself and enjoy those around me. It’s been a tough winter for me being a little too locked into technology.
On Sunday I was thrilled to spend the afternoon wondering down 14th Street in DC. There’s so many adorable shops and restaurants. I wonder what I’ve been doing for the past four years that I missed all of them popping up?! Logan Circle was certainly a place to go last time I explored the area but it has nothing on all the hustle and bustle that now exists over there. What I didn’t do was keep my phone out and take pictures of everything. Instead I enjoyed the afternoon with Meyer. Although I love photographing cool finds and awesome haunts I want to be present in the experience instead of trying to remember to post it. I did stop to take one photo on the deck of Room & Board. If you’re in DC, it’s a fun place to spend a couple hours dreaming up the perfect Mid Century Modern home. Their roof deck showcasing outdoor furniture gives quite the view to all the development in the neighborhood. I’ll be sure to check out Doi Moi or Taqueria Nacional for a meal. Afterwards you can find me at Dolcezza or Pitango gelato shops indulging in a delicious scoop.
This summer I’m looking forward to reading on the porch, socializing with friends, dining alfresco, or strolling about town but almost always leaving the phone tucked away during these experiences. If you need me, stop by, you’ll probably find me sitting on the porch.
